Senior Lecturer in Digital Forensics and Security
Department of Computer Science
University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol, UK.
Dr. Shancang Li (BEng, MEng, PhD)is a senior lecturer in Network Forensics at UWE. Over the last few years, he has been working on a few research projects funded by EU, EPSRC, A4B (Academic expertise for Business), TSB (Technology Strategy Board), and industry. Based on these research projects, dozens of papers have been published. His current research interests include network forensics, device security, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things, and lightweight cryptography over IoT. He is actively involved in IEEE activities and has organised more than 10 IEEE International conferences in UK and other countries. He organised six special issues on security topics, including two special issues on IEEE Transactions on Computation Social Systems, one on IEEE Access, and two special issues on IJDSN in the past few years. He is Associate Editor of a number journals, including IEEE Access, JIII, et al. He has published more than 50 research papers and 4 books/chapters in Elsevier.
报告内容:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is significantly changing our world, where millions of smart devices, such as intelligent sensors, smart car, smart home, etc. are being connected to the Internet. These IoT devices are uniquely identifiable, addressable, and contactable online. This work aims at addressing the challenges and approaches IoT poses from the view point of digital forensics. First, we will provide an overview of the general digital forensics literature to illustrate where the challenges and potential vulnerabilities posed by the IoT. Then, the most commonly used IoT digital forensic approaches will be introduced to establish digital forensic procedures. Then, existing digital forensic models and procedures in IoT context will be discussed. In addition to this, an Amazon Echo based IoT forensic case examination methods will be addressed to demonstrate the recent works on the challenges posed by IoT to establish the state of the art research in this area.
